The Arbon School Board met on June 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams, Jake Evans and Melinda Campbell were present as were Debbie Curry, Robin Claunch and clerk, Cheri Evans.

The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Melinda to approve the agenda after one addition.  The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve the minutes.  The bills were reviewed. The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Melinda to approve them. The total M & O expenses for the month of June was $34,417.57. The school received $31.80 from property taxes, $8,018.00 from the State Department and $7.18 from interest on investments.    The school M & O balance is $39,328.82. The Plant Facility received $4.24 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $33,440.42.  The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to transfer the bus depreciation of $5,175.00 to the Plant Facility fund.  The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve the financial statement.

School will start on August 27, 2012 and end on May 21, 2013 for the 2012-2013 school year.  Teacher contracts were signed.  Robin is taking the math MTI class in American Falls this week. Where the State Department is not charging for the credits for this class and they will not show up on her transcripts the board agreed that it will count as three credits on her transcripts.  The science curriculum will cost just under $3,000.00.  The school is in need of a fridge before school starts.  Cheri will have Jacob post a notice on the website to see if anyone has or knows of one.

No one showed for the 2012-2013 school budget hearing.  The board reviewed and approved it.  The supplemental levy held in May passed with 54 yes and 4 no votes.  The motion was moved and seconded to accept board policy on the first reading for Parental Input on Teacher Evaluations.

The board will interview the three applicants for the teacher aide position on Tuesday, June 19th, starting at 7:00 p.m.  There were two applicants for the bus driver position.  The decision was made to give the position to Juli Fitch.  Jake will call both and let them know their decision.

The annual meeting will be held on July 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.  The motion was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  The meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.

The Arbon School Board met on May 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams, Jake Evans and Melinda Campbell were present as were Debbie Curry, Robin Claunch, and clerk, Cheri Evans.

The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the agenda. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve the minutes. The bills were reviewed. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Melinda to approve them. The total M & O expenses for the month of May was $19,672.74. The school received $29.87 from property taxes, $24,358.29 from the State Department and $9.95 from interest on investments. The school M & O balance is $65,689.41. The Plant Facility received $4.11 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $33,436.18. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Melinda to approve the financial statement.

American Falls School District is still working on their 2012-2013 school calendar. Robin will stay in contact with them and email the board when she has their final calendar. The teachers are working on the supplies and textbook order. The science curriculum needs to be replaced this year; they are looking at a couple different publishers. The spring program is May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The board has received three applicants for the teacher aide position. They will make a decision at June’s meeting. The supplemental levy will be held on May 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the school.

Nancy Fitch will be retiring at the end of the school year. Cheri will post the bus driver position. The board will make a decision at June’s meeting.

The board will have a work session on May 15th at 8:00 p.m. to work on the 2012-2013 school budget.

The next meeting and budget hearing will be held on June 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The motion was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.

NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING

School District No. 383

Power County, Idaho

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a meeting of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 383, Power County, Idaho, will be held on June 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Arbon School, at which meeting there shall be a public hearing on the maintenance and operation budget for the forthcoming school year.

A copy of the proposed budget as determined by the Board of Trustees is available for public inspection at the school from the date of this notice until the date of the hearing.

This budget hearing is called pursuant to Section 33-801, Idaho Code as amended.

ARBON SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

April 17, 2012

The Arbon School Board met on April 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams, Jake Evans and Melinda Campbell via Skype were present as were Debbie Curry, Robin Claunch, Ryan Weston and clerk, Cheri Evans.

The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve the agenda after one addition.  The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Melinda to approve the minutes.  The bills were reviewed. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve them. The total M & O expenses for the month of April was $20,142.42. The school received $124.56 federal forest funds, $180.60 from property taxes, $1,500.00 REAP funds and $12.00 from interest on investments.  The school M & O balance is $60,631.89. The Plant Facility received $3.99 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $33,432.07. The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the financial statement.

The annual safety inspection was done on the school and playground.  The school was not written up but these were concerns:  need lock on outside mower shed, furnace room needs to be locked at all times, repair or replace see-saw seats or just remove completely and the playground dome needs to be moved.

Robin contacted American Falls School District to see it they have finalized a 2012-2013 school calendar, they have not.  She presented the board with a tentative 2012-2013 school calendar.  ISAT testing started last week and is going well.  Shantell will complete the typing program the end of April.  She will give the students a final exam for our Technology Grant file.  The school has put a lot of money into the upstairs copier this year.   The teachers will look for a new one.  The end of year program is May 23rd at 7:00 p.m.  The last day of school is May 24th; the school will go swimming at Lava.  Julie Hayden will not be coming back as an aide for the 2012-2013 school year.  Cheri will post the position opening.

The budget hearing date was set for June 12th at 7:00 p.m.  The board needs to make policy on how parent input will be included on the teacher evaluations by September of 2012.  The evaluations need to be completed before February of 2013.  Blue Cross of Idaho medical insurance is increasing by 2.9%, the dental by 1.7% and no increase on vision.

Ryan thinks it will cost around $55.00 to redo the way the curtains close for the stage.

Jason had prepared a new teacher salary schedule; it was reviewed and approved.  Jake will redo the power point on the bus driver contract and email it to the drivers.  The State Department, Student Transportation Division, will do a random spot check on April 30th.
