School Board Minutes – Jan 13, 2015

The Arbon School Board meet on January 13, 2015 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams Melinda Campbell and Jake Evans were present as were Debbie Curry, clerk, Cheri Evans and Robin Claunch via Skype.
The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the agenda. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Melinda to approve the minutes. The bills were reviewed. The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve them. The total M & O expenses for the month of January is $22,668.87. The school received $36.81 from the State Department, $35,123.26 from property taxes and $9.69 from interest. The school M & O balance is $160,630.04. The Plant Facility received and $2.77 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $46,616.58. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve the financial statement.
The security camera at the front door was discussed. When a visitor comes to the door all you can really see is the top of their head. Debbie will contact Kade Lusk to see if he is able to adjust the security camera to get a better view of the visitor and if they could view some of the bus loading and unloading area. If not, they will look into getting a camera to see the bus loading and unloading and maybe some of the parking area.
We have one student going to speech therapy two days a week. The school will pay for these services this year. If services are needed next school year, we will look into applying for some help with funding from the State Department.
Melinda will contact Jason Bransford to set up doing another teacher observation and a final evaluation before the end of the school year.
Purchasing a new bus was tabled until the board hears back from Todd and Julie Fitch.
The next meeting will be held on February 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The motion was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.

Arbon School Board Meeting
December 16, 2014
The Arbon School Board meet on December 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams Melinda Campbell and Jake Evans were present as were Debbie Curry, Todd and Juli Fitch and clerk, Cheri Evans.
The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the agenda. The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the minutes. The bills were reviewed. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve them. The total M & O expenses for the month of December is $34,010.23. The school received $46,503.05 from the State Department $9,887.97 from REAP funds and $9.85 from interest on investments. The school M & O balance is $148,138.84. The Plant Facility received and $2.81 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $46,613.81. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to approve the financial statement.
The Christmas Program will be on December 18th at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Skills for Debbie’s class starts in January on every Friday and Robin’s class will have different parties in the afternoon on these Fridays. The 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 school audit was gone over. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jake to accept the audit. It passed unanimously.
Juli will call Hank Povey, Regional Supervisor of Student Transportation, to get the specs that are required on a new bus before we start the process of getting one. Todd asked the Board if they had ever thought about contracting the busing. They said they hadn’t really thought about it so they asked him to look into it and get back with them with some figures.
Evans Pump just repaired the old rain gutter heat tape at no charge so we did not have to install new.
The next meeting will be held on January 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The motion was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
