NOTICE OF SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY ELECTION

Arbon Elementary School District No. 383

Power County, Idaho

Public Notice is hereby given according to law, and the requisite action of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 383, Power County Idaho, that a special supplemental levy election will be held on May 17, 2016, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said District their vote and determination on a supplemental tax levy.

The polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:

Arbon Valley Bible Church

4700 Arbon Valley Highway    Arbon, Idaho

An elector must be a registered voter who has resided in this state and in this school district at least thirty (30) days preceding the election.

The question submitted will be:

QUESTION:

Shall the Board of Trustees of Arbon Elementary School District No. 383, Power County, Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a supplemental levy, as permitted by law in Section 33-802(3), Idaho Code for twenty-five thousand dollars $25,000.00) for the first fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016 and twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017 for two years for the purpose of paying all lawful expenses of maintaining and operating the schools of the District for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2016 and ending June 30, 2018?

The voter may express his/her vote by making an “X” opposite the word on his/her ballot, which expresses his/her choice.

Qualified electors who expect to be absent from the District on May 17, 2016, or who will be unable, because of physical disability or blindness, to go to a polling place, may vote by absentee ballot.  Absentee ballots may be requested from the County Clerk.  The last day for the County Clerk to mail an absentee ballot to voters who requested an absentee ballot is April 1. Those planning on voting absentee will need to obtain and complete an application for absent elector’s ballot that may be brought into the clerk’s office or faxed to 226-7612 by May 17, 2016.  In- person absentee voting closes on Wednesday, May 13.  Electors applying by mail should submit their requests as soon as possible.  The absentee ballot must be received by the clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.

Idaho Presidental Primary (Arbon Details)

The 2016 Idaho presidential primary is set for Tuesday, Mark 8.

Unaffiliated voters can affiliate when they sign the poll book.  Affiliated voters can use the party affiliation form to change their affiliation on election day.  Friday, March 11, is the last day to affiliate or change party affiliation before the May 17 state primary election.

For the republican party ballot, you must be affiliated with the republican party. For the constitution party ballot you must be affiliated with the constitution party. Democrats will hold a party caucus Tuesday, March 22.

A constitution party and republican party presidential-only primary election will be held Tuesday, March 8. This is a closed primary. If you choose to vote a constitution ballot or a republican ballot, you will become affiliated with that party.

School Board Minutes and School Expenses

ARBON SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
January 12, 2016

The Arbon School Board met on January 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams, Jake Evans and Jessica Ward were present as were Debbie Curry and clerk, Cheri Evans.

The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jessica to approve the agenda. The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the minutes.  The bills were reviewed.  The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve them.  The total M & O expenses for January was $22,348.33. The school received REAP funds of $4,235.91 and $33.37 from interest on investments. The school M & O balance is $190,360.62. The Plant Facility received $10.95 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $51,688.88. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Jessica to approve the financial statement.

Robin received a brief email from the State Department about a 3-year Gifted and Talented Plan.  She will be receiving additional emails with more details and will be able to give the Board more information at next month’s meeting.  Jacob let the teachers know that Ruby Webb, LLC is not able to accept any more funds for being our Technology Advisor (IT person) but he is still willing to help.  Jason will contact him and find out what he is still willing to help with.

The Board asked Cheri when she was thinking of retiring.  She’s thinking at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.  They are thinking of changing her job description and will do some research on exactly what they are looking for.  Jason and Jake forgot to look into the auto dial for phones in case of an emergency.  They will research for next month’s meeting.  Jake is still working on teacher and administrative job descriptions.

The next meeting will be held February 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The motion was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
