Dear Interested Party/Local Cooperator:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is hosting an open house meeting to discuss issues relating to wildland fire suppression following the 2017 season. The primary purpose of the meeting is to discuss roles and responsibilities when fires occur on unprotected lands and explore opportunities to improve efficiencies with local cooperators and landowners when fires do occur. Information will be provided regarding Rural Fire Districts (RFD) and Rangeland Fire Protection Associations (RFPA).
In 2017, firefighters were faced with challenges related to areas that were either outside of established RFD, or lacked an RFPA. The target audience for this meeting includes local cooperators and landowners in northern Oneida County and southern Power County that participate in or have an interest in wildland fire suppression. After presenting information on RFDs and RFPA’s, we would like to see if there is an interest in pursuing either an RFD or an RFPA for these unprotected areas. We will also allow time to discuss any specific question related to fire suppression, post suppression rehabilitation related to the 2017 fires.
The time/location for the meeting is:
4-6pm Jan 10, 2018 Arbon Elementary School 4405 Arbon Valley Hwy, Arbon ID 83212
You are invited to join us for this meeting. If you are aware of anyone else that might be interested in attending this meeting, please share this invitation with them.
