ARBON SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
April 8, 2014
The Arbon School Board met on April 8, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. members Jason Williams, Melinda Campbell and Jake Evans were present as were Debbie Curry, Robin Claunch and clerk, Cheri Evans.
The motion was moved by Melinda and seconded by Jake to approve the agenda after one addition. The motion was moved by Jason and seconded by Melinda to approve the minutes. The bills were reviewed. The motion was moved by Melinda and seconded by Jason to approve them. The total M & O expenses for the month of April was $23,904.43. The school received $225.75 from property taxes and $6.72 from interest on investments. The school M & O balance is $113,489.03. The Plant Facility received $1.92 from interest the Plant Facility balance is $42,998.90. The motion was moved by Jake and seconded by Jason to approve the financial statement.
The spring program will be on May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Debbie has some parents helping with the silent auction going on that day and evening. They will get flyers out to patrons a week or ten days before May 22nd. The proceeds from the silent auction will go towards the playground project. The school has risen a little over $5,100 to go towards the expenses for the project. Jake will see if Steve Lusk would be interested in coordinating the project, it would be nice to have it completed before school starts next fall.
Debbie and Cheri attended the Post Legislative Tour on Thursday, May 3rd. The school will see a small increase for overall funding for the school year 2014-2015. We will also receive monies that can only be spent on specific areas such as Leadership Awards, Technology, Safe & Drug Free, Curriculum and Professional Development. To receive the Professional Development monies, the school needs to submit a 3-year plan by June 30, 2014.
The spreadsheet on teacher duties in addition to teaching was gone over with some changes made.
The hanging light in the gym still needs to be taken care of. There has been some wind damage on the outside of the building on the west side. Jake will call Shawn to see if he would be able to fix it.
The next meeting will be held on May 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The motion was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.

The students and staff of Arbon Elementary would like to invite you and your family to a day of fun celebrating the end of another wonderful school year. The day begins with the silent auction items being displayed and available for bidding. Swing by and place your bids all day long! Don’t worry if you cannot make it to Arbon Elementary to place your bids. If you have something you would love to bid on, we will be taking phone bids throughout the day. Cash donations are greatly appreciated as well and can be sent into the school or dropped off at anytime. Silent auction results will be announced after the evening performance. Let The Bidding Begin!!
We are very close to reaching the amount needed to replace the surface of the playground. Hopefully this fund raiser will put us over the top. Please, come enjoy a super cute program, some bidding wars and refreshments. It looks to be a very exciting day!

NOTICE OF SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY ELECTION
Arbon Elementary School District No. 383
Power County, Idaho
Public Notice is hereby given according to law, and the requisite action of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 383, Power County Idaho, that a special supplemental levy election will be held on May 20, 2014, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said District their vote and determination on a supplemental tax levy.
The polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
Arbon Valley Bible Church     4700 Arbon Valley Highway   Arbon, Idaho
An elector must be a registered voter who has resided in this state and in this school district at least thirty (30) days preceding the election.
The question submitted will be:
QUESTION:
Shall the Board of Trustees of Arbon Elementary School District No. 383, Power County, Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a supplemental levy, as permitted by law in Section 33-802(3), Idaho Code for fifty thousand dollars $50,000.00) for the first fiscal year beginning July 1, 2014 and fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015 for two years for the purpose of paying all lawful expenses of maintaining and operating the schools of the District for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2014 and ending June 30, 2016?

The voter may express his/her vote by making an “X†opposite the word on his/her ballot, which expresses his/her choice.
Qualified electors who expect to be absent from the District on May 20, 2014, or who will be unable, because of physical disability or blindness, to go to a polling place, may vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots may be requested from the County Clerk. Those planning on voting absentee will need to obtain and complete an application for absent elector’s ballot that may be brought into the clerk’s office or faxed to 226-7612. In person absentee voting closes on Wednesday, May 16. Electors applying by mail should submit their requests as soon as possible. The absentee ballot must be received by the clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.
